About Clatuu Alpha

Targeted fat reduction for selected areas

Clatuu Alpha uses controlled cooling for selected, pinchable and/or stubborn pockets of fat. The cooling process is designed to trigger apoptosis — the body's natural process for clearing treated fat cells over time. During a consultation, an Avesa clinician can assess the area or areas you would like to discuss, your goals and relevant medical history to determine whether Clatuu Alpha may be a suitable option for you.

CLATUU ALPHA CL5 M500 is an ARTG-registered Class IIb medical device. Register your interest in a Clatuu Alpha consultation to discuss the areas you would like assessed, your goals and the most appropriate next step.

How Clatuu may work

A controlled cooling process for selected, pinchable and/or stubborn pockets of fat

Clatuu is a cryolipolysis, or fat-freezing, treatment. It is designed to target selected, pinchable and/or stubborn pockets of subcutaneous fat using controlled cryotherapy. A protective gel pad is placed on the skin, then a fitted applicator applies controlled vacuum, drawing the selected tissue into its cooling cup.

Its 360° Surround Cooling system delivers cooling around the applicator surface. The process is designed to trigger apoptosis, the body’s natural process for clearing treated fat cells over time. Put simply, the targeted fat cells are exposed to controlled cold, then the body gradually processes the affected fat-cell debris through the lymphatic system and normal metabolic pathways, including the liver.

Published research shows cryolipolysis can permanently reduce fat in the treated area by approximately 20–25% after one session, with additional sessions able to increase results further. Your clinician will discuss what’s realistic for your area and goals during your consultation.

Four-stage illustration showing a gel pad, cooling applicator, controlled cooling of subcutaneous fat and gradual metabolic processing
The visual shows the general sequence: protect the skin, position the applicator, cool the selected fat layer and allow the body time to process treated fat-cell debris. It is an educational illustration, not a guarantee of individual result.
Step 1Protect and position

A protective gel pad is placed on the skin before a correctly sized applicator is positioned over the selected area.

Step 2Draw in selected tissue

Controlled vacuum draws a fold of suitable skin and subcutaneous fat into the cooling cup. Not every area or contour is suitable for this approach.

Step 3Cool the fat layer

360° Surround Cooling delivers controlled cooling around the selected tissue, triggering a gradual response in the targeted fat layer.

Step 4Allow time for change

Treated fat-cell debris is gradually processed through the lymphatic system and normal metabolic pathways, including the liver. Visible changes are assessed over the following months.

* Research figures describe average outcomes reported in published cryolipolysis studies and are not a promise of an individual result. Results, timing and whether a further session is appropriate vary by area, anatomy, applicator selection and treatment plan.

How a consultation works

Start with the area and your goals

A consultation is the appropriate first step before a clinician can discuss treatment suitability, applicator choice, risks, expected recovery, timing or pricing.

Step 1

Assess the area

We discuss the localised area you would like assessed and your body-contouring goals.

Step 2

Review suitability

Your clinician reviews relevant health, medication and treatment history before any recommendation.

Step 3

Plan carefully

If appropriate, we discuss applicator selection, timing, expected effects, risks and a personalised plan.

Step 4

Confirm next steps

We confirm the most appropriate next step. Depending on your consultation, this may include further assessment, a tailored treatment plan or another Avesa pathway.

Potential areas

Stubborn pockets of fat that may be discussed

Clatuu may be considered for selected, pinchable and/or stubborn pockets of fat, including the abdomen, flanks, under-chin area, upper arms, bra-line and back, buttocks, thighs and around the knees. The applicator and planned coverage are selected around the individual area and contour.

After treatment, changes are assessed gradually over the following weeks, often up to around 12 weeks. The body progressively processes the treated fat-cell debris through the lymphatic system and normal metabolic pathways, including the liver. Clatuu is a non-surgical contouring option for selected areas, not a weight-management treatment.

Front and back illustrated body map showing selected areas that may be assessed for Clatuu fat freezing
This map highlights commonly discussed localised areas. Your clinician confirms whether an area is suitable for assessment and how any applicator would be positioned.
Selected area

Under chin / double chin

A smaller applicator may be considered for selected under-chin areas after assessment.

Selected area

Upper arms and underarm or bra-line area

Selected upper-arm, underarm or bra-line areas may be discussed where there is a localised pocket of pinchable fat.

Selected area

Abdomen, flanks and lower back

For selected localised, pinchable areas around the abdomen, waist or love-handle region.

Selected area

Inner and outer thighs

Applicator selection and placement are planned to suit the individual area and contour.

Selected area

Above-knee and side-of-knee areas

These areas may be discussed where assessment identifies a suitable localised pocket of fat.

Selected area

Area beneath the buttocks

A suitable localised area beneath the buttocks may be assessed as part of a broader body-contouring conversation.

Not a weight-loss treatment

Clatuu Alpha fat freezing (cryolipolysis) is a non-surgical body-contouring option for stubborn pockets of fat that may remain despite diet and exercise. It is not a substitute for healthy nutrition, regular movement, medical weight-management care or surgery.

Treatment comfort

Treatment comfort and what to expect

During the first few minutes, you may notice firm pulling, pinching and intense cooling as the applicator is positioned. The treated area usually becomes numb as it cools.

Once numbness sets in, most people can rest comfortably, read, check their phone, listen to something or simply close their eyes while the session continues. Your clinician will check in throughout.

Changes are gradual rather than immediate, commonly becoming noticeable from around four weeks and continuing to develop for up to three months. Timing, sessions, recovery and outcomes vary, which is why your clinician should discuss the plan only after assessment.

Important suitability information

Safety and suitability first

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, medications, liver disease, heart conditions, implanted devices and other medical history may affect whether this is appropriate to discuss. Do not stop prescribed medication unless the prescribing clinician has advised you to do so.

This is not a complete suitability list. A clinician will complete the relevant screening before any recommendation.

Clatuu plans and pricing

Pricing and an introductory offer are coming soon

We are finalising Clatuu pricing and an introductory offer. A consultation confirms whether the areas you would like assessed can be planned together, along with applicator requirements, timing and final cost.

Pricing is shaped by the area, tissue to be assessed and planned coverage, rather than a one-size-fits-all treatment.

Frequently asked questions

Clatuu Alpha Fat Freezing FAQs

Suitability is determined in consultation. Your Avesa clinician will discuss the area or areas you would like assessed, your goals, relevant health and treatment history, and whether this body-contouring option may be appropriate for you.

Experiences vary. Cooling and suction may feel like pressure, tugging, pinching or an intense cold sensation at first. Your clinician will explain what to expect, check your comfort throughout and discuss the potential effects and risks relevant to the area being considered.

There is no automatic number of treatments. Your clinician would recommend a plan only after assessing the area and your goals. A selected area is commonly treated within a 40–60 minute range, and an additional session may be considered after at least four weeks. Changes are gradual, commonly becoming noticeable from around four weeks and continuing to develop for up to three months. Individual plans, timing and outcomes vary.

A clinician must review your suitability before any treatment. Please tell the team if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have liver disease, a heart condition or implanted device, take regular medication, or have any relevant medical history. These factors may mean a treatment is not appropriate or that further medical advice is required. Final screening must follow the applicable Australian device instructions and clinician protocol.

Clatuu Alpha fat freezing is a non-surgical body-contouring option for stubborn pockets of pinchable fat that may remain despite diet and exercise. It is not a weight-loss treatment and is not intended to replace nutrition, movement or broader medical weight-management care. During a consultation, your clinician can assess the area or areas you would like treated, your goals and relevant medical history.

PAH is a rare but more serious potential complication associated with cryolipolysis, where fatty tissue in the treated area increases rather than reduces. It can become apparent months after treatment and may require further medical assessment or treatment. Your clinician should explain relevant risks, alternatives and follow-up before any treatment is considered.

A consultation allows your clinician to assess concerns such as localised fat, skin laxity or cellulite, and discuss whether Clatuu Alpha or another Avesa body-treatment pathway may be appropriate. Where suitable, your clinician can explain the potential role, timing and expected outcomes of complementary options as part of an individualised plan.

Your clinician will explain aftercare and what you can expect for the area being assessed. Temporary redness, bruising, tenderness, numbness or altered sensation can occur after cryolipolysis, but these effects do not usually prevent people from returning to their normal daily routine. The appropriate aftercare and follow-up plan should be discussed before treatment, as individual experiences and risks vary.

Pricing would be discussed only after a consultation. It can depend on the area being assessed, the applicator requirements and the individual plan. This request does not confirm a treatment price or availability.
