Consultation-led RF microneedling

A customised approach to texture, scarring and firmness

Morpheus8 uses fine microneedle electrodes to deliver controlled radiofrequency energy at selected depths. The treatment can be adjusted according to the area, skin thickness, concern and recovery profile being planned.

This flexibility can be useful when enlarged pores and uneven texture occur alongside atrophic acne scarring or early loss of firmness. Deeper treatment is not automatically better, and Morpheus8 is not appropriate for every concern.

Fine microneedles enter the skin and deliver radiofrequency energy at selected depths. This creates controlled fractional treatment zones while leaving surrounding tissue untreated to support healing.

Depth, energy and number of passes are selected for the treatment area and concern. The aim is gradual improvement rather than immediate transformation.

Acne scarring, active breakouts, visible pores, oiliness, fine lines and skin laxity do not all need the same treatment. Assessment helps determine whether Morpheus8 is suitable, whether another treatment should come first and what recovery should be expected.

  • It does not completely remove acne scars.
  • It does not replace a facelift or surgery.
  • It is not a guaranteed treatment for oily skin or enlarged pores.
  • It is not automatically suitable for active acne or every skin type.

Four steps from assessment to recovery

Your treatment settings and recovery plan should be selected for your skin, anatomy and concern rather than applied as a standard protocol.

Step 1

Consultation and assessment

We review your main concern, skin condition, scar type, current skincare, medical history and tolerance for recovery before recommending treatment.

Step 2

Preparation and planning

Your practitioner selects the treatment area, depth and energy appropriate for your skin. A topical anaesthetic is generally applied before treatment.

Step 3

Fractional RF microneedling

The handpiece is placed systematically across the area. You may feel pressure, warmth and brief pulses during treatment.

Step 4

Recovery and review

You receive personalised aftercare and a clear explanation of whether a follow-up or additional session should be considered.

Treatment pathways

What would you like to improve?

Morpheus8 may be considered for several overlapping concerns. Suitability depends on the skin, the depth and type of concern, and settings that can be used safely.

Scarring

Atrophic acne scarring

Morpheus8 may improve selected depressed acne scars through controlled fractional treatment and gradual dermal remodelling. Rolling, boxcar and ice-pick scars do not respond in the same way, and deeper or tethered scars may need another treatment or a staged plan.

Pores and oiliness

Oily skin, enlarged pores and uneven texture

Morpheus8 may be considered when visible pores, facial oiliness and uneven texture occur together, particularly when there are post-acne textural changes. Surface congestion or active breakouts may need another starting point.

Skin quality

Fine lines and crepey texture

Fractional RF microneedling may help improve the appearance of fine lines and crepey or uneven texture. Results develop gradually and vary with skin condition, treatment intensity and the number of sessions completed.

Firmness

Reduced skin firmness

Morpheus8 may be considered when mild loss of firmness occurs alongside texture or scarring concerns. It is not a substitute for surgery and should not be expected to produce the result of a facelift.

Understanding RF treatments

Morpheus8 compared with Venus Viva

Both treatments use radiofrequency energy, but they deliver it differently.

Venus Viva is commonly positioned as NanoFractional RF resurfacing. Morpheus8 delivers fractional RF energy through microneedles at selected depths. This gives the practitioner flexibility when acne scarring, enlarged pores, uneven texture and reduced firmness need to be considered together.

This does not mean deeper treatment is suitable for everyone or that Morpheus8 is universally better than every resurfacing treatment. The appropriate option depends on the concern, skin condition, treatment depth required, acceptable recovery and individual risks.

Why choose Morpheus8?
  • Adjustable treatment depth and energy
  • Can consider scarring, texture and firmness together
  • Customisable by area and skin thickness
  • Consultation-led rather than device-led planning

Greater depth or intensity does not automatically produce a better result and can involve greater recovery or risk.

Treatment planning

Areas and treatment course

The initial Avesa Health pathway focuses on selected facial and neck concerns at Essendon and Lower Templestowe.

Face

Cheeks and localised scar areas

For selected atrophic acne scars, enlarged pores and uneven cheek texture.

Face

Full face

For a broader combination of texture, visible pores, fine lines and mild firmness concerns.

Lower face

Jawline and lower face

For selected texture and mild firmness concerns, planned carefully according to anatomy and tissue depth.

Neck

Neck texture and firmness

For selected crepey texture, fine lines and mild loss of firmness. Neck recovery can differ from facial recovery.

Results develop gradually

Morpheus8 starts a controlled healing and remodelling response rather than producing a final result immediately. Early changes may become noticeable over following weeks, with further change developing over several months.

Some people may be assessed for a single treatment, while acne scarring or established texture concerns may require a course spaced several weeks apart. Your proposed sessions, recovery and total cost will be explained before you decide.

Aftercare

What to expect after Morpheus8

Recovery varies with the treatment area, depth, energy, number of passes and individual response. Morpheus8 is not a no-downtime treatment.

The area may appear red and swollen and may feel warm, tender or sensitive. Pinpoint marks or a visible treatment pattern can occur.

Redness and swelling should gradually reduce. The skin may feel dry, tight, rough or mildly itchy. Small darkened points or crusts can form. Do not pick, scratch or scrub the area.

Dryness, roughness, flaking or visible marks may persist after the initial redness settles. More intensive treatment and neck treatment may involve a longer recovery period.

  • Picking, rubbing, exfoliating or abrasive cleansing
  • Retinoids, exfoliating acids and strong active skincare until advised
  • Excessive sun, heat, saunas, swimming and strenuous exercise during early recovery
  • Makeup until your practitioner advises it is appropriate

Contact Avesa Health if symptoms are severe, worsening, unexpected or not resolving as advised.

Suitability

Who may not be suitable?

Treatment may need to be postponed or avoided if you are pregnant or breastfeeding; have active infection, cold sores, open wounds, inflamed acne or significant inflammation; have a relevant electronic or metal implant; or have a medical condition, medication or history that may affect healing, bleeding, sensation, immunity, pigmentation or scarring.

Recent surgery, energy-based treatment, intensive resurfacing, sunburn, tanning or a compromised skin barrier also need to be discussed.

Do not stop prescribed medication unless the prescribing clinician has advised you to do so.

This is not a complete contraindication list. Bring an up-to-date medication and treatment history to your consultation.

Informed decisions

Risks and possible complications

Morpheus8 is an RF microneedling procedure and requires balanced discussion of expected effects, risks and alternatives.

Expected temporary effects can include redness, swelling, warmth, tenderness, bruising, dryness, flaking, pinpoint bleeding, crusting and a temporary acne flare.

Less common or more serious complications can include infection, burns, prolonged inflammation, persistent pigment changes, track marks, scarring, contour irregularity, unintended fat loss and nerve-related symptoms. Medical treatment may be required if a significant complication occurs.

Optional support

Healite II LED

Healite II LED may be recommended separately to support skin comfort and recovery around more active treatments. Suitability and timing depend on the Morpheus8 protocol and immediate skin response.

LED does not replace Morpheus8 aftercare or the need to monitor unexpected symptoms.

FAQ

Morpheus8 questions

A topical anaesthetic is generally applied before treatment, but Morpheus8 can still feel uncomfortable. People may feel pressure, heat, prickling or brief sharp sensations. Comfort varies according to the area, depth and settings used.

Allow several days for visible redness, swelling, dryness or textural change. Some people feel comfortable returning to normal activities sooner, while more intensive treatment can require longer recovery. Do not schedule treatment immediately before an important event.

This depends on the concern and treatment intensity. Some people may be suitable for one treatment, while acne scarring or established texture concerns may require a planned course. We explain the proposed number, spacing and total cost after assessment.

Fractional RF microneedling may help reduce the appearance of enlarged pores and may affect sebum production in selected patients. Oiliness has multiple possible causes and results are not guaranteed. Skin analysis, skincare, facials, peels or acne management may also be recommended.

Active inflamed acne may make Morpheus8 unsuitable until the skin is better controlled. Morpheus8 is more commonly considered for post-acne textural change and atrophic scarring. Your practitioner will assess whether acne management should come first.

Morpheus8 may improve selected atrophic scars, but rolling, boxcar and ice-pick scars respond differently. Tethered or deep scars may require another technique or combination plan. Complete scar removal should not be expected.

Changes develop gradually over the weeks and months following treatment. Timing varies according to skin condition, age, treatment settings and whether a course is completed.

RF microneedling may be considered across a range of skin tones because it does not rely on a pigment-targeting laser wavelength. Pigment changes and other complications remain possible, so skin tone, pigment history and settings must still be assessed carefully.

The treatments deliver RF differently. Morpheus8 uses microneedles to deliver energy at selected depths, while Venus Viva is commonly used for NanoFractional surface resurfacing. Morpheus8 may offer greater flexibility when scarring, texture and firmness need to be considered together, but it is not automatically the better option for every person.

Morpheus8 may form part of a staged skin, scar or tightening plan. Treatments should be scheduled carefully rather than combined automatically. Your practitioner will consider healing time, treatment interactions and risk before recommending a sequence.
