What the labels mean, why the machine matters and how session requirements affect value.
There is no single accepted definition. Depending on the supplier, the number may refer to cartridges, rows, treatment modes, handles or simply the product name. It is not a standard measure of HIFU quality or performance.
They are marketing labels used across different machines. Two clinics advertising the same numbered HIFU may be using unrelated devices with different output, cartridges, protocols and evidence.
The same issue applies. A higher number does not establish that the machine is more powerful, more precise, better researched or more effective. The exact device and treatment delivered are what matter.
Some machines and protocols are designed around repeated lower-intensity or smaller treatments. That can make the first visit look inexpensive, but it also means more appointments, a higher total cost and a longer wait before the course is complete.
